Application is at the bottom of the page.
Who is invited? First responders with PTSD symptoms, including current or retired 911 dispatchers, firefighters, police (law enforcement) officers, sheriff, EMS, and ER nurses. We will accept anyone from the beginning of the call to the end of the call.
What are PTSD Symptoms? Symptoms include anxiety, depression, anger, nightmares, insomnia, or low self esteem. For a full list, see our page, What is PTSD?
What is included in the retreat? You will stay 5 days / 4 nights and 11 meals in the beautiful northwoods of Wisconsin on Camp Luther's site. While the camp is Christian affiliated, our retreat will not be religious based. Every morning, you will have breakfast followed by some educational material planned and presented by our peer support mentors. Time for processing will be essential during these lessons. After lunch, we will have some recreational therapy. There are many different activities that we can do (all dependant on participant choice). This will be an opportunty to learn important grounding techniques, which help you focus on the here and now. If participants want, a few activities are off campus and have an additional cost.
What can you do? If you are a first responder with any of the symptoms listed above and want to attend, please contact our founder, Liz Bartholomew at 630-281-0268 or respondersretreat@gmail.org. If you know someone who is a first responder, please pass this information along to them. If you have the ability to sponsor a first responder, please contact Liz Bartholomew.
